Our acoustic overlay board is a high performance acoustic T&G floor panel with an exceptional performance-to-height ratio.

It consists of an 18mm tongued and grooved 18mm P5 chipboard to a 5mm cross-linked polyolefin foam resilient layer. Karma Acoustic Overlay 23 provides excellent impact and airborne sound insulation in a single product.

It is used on an existing floor, new ply or chipboard floor or directly to concrete/screed floors making it an ideal product for refurbishments and new build projects, can meet and exceed Part E of the building regulations.

The additional polyolefin acoustic layer also means you’re unlikely to need a separate damp-proof membrane when applying the product to a concrete floor.

Benefits

  • Ideal for refurbishments due to minimal floor heights
  • Quick and easy to install, offering savings in time and labour
  • Non-load-bearing partitions can be built off the floating floor
  • Ideal for use in loft conversions in accordance with Floor 4.d Type 2 (Scottish Section 5 – Generic Internal Constructions)

Dimensions

  • Panel size: 2400 x 600 x 23mm
  • Weight: 13.1kg/m2

Why Karma Acoustic Overlay 23?

Designed by soundproofing experts, Karma Acoustic Overlay 23 is an innovative acoustic floor insulation solution that tackles both airborne and impact noise problems. The dense chipboard layer reduces airborne sound, while the polyethylene resilient layer deals with impact from footfall etc.

Because this acoustic floor insulation system has been created by construction industry professionals, it also factors in issues beyond the field of acoustics. Due to the potential for residual substrate moisture, acoustic solutions being applied to a concrete floor general require the addition of a damp-proof membrane. A damp-proof membrane represents and additional material cost and, more importantly, an increased labour requirement, laying and taping the material. Our acoustic floor insulation system includes a treated polyethylene layer bonded to the chipboard which does the job of a damp-proof membrane, saving you time and money.
